It seems that Emilia Clarke has finally spoken out about the criticism she received for her nude scenes in Game of Thrones. In a recent interview with ELLE, the actress reflects on the “antifeminist” backlash and the sex scenes that ultimately turned the tables. Clarke quotes her unforgettable Daenerys line to her season four companion, Daario: “Take off your clothes.” “Its brilliant. I actually went up to [showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and thanked them. I was like, Thats a scene Ive been waiting for! ” Clarke said. “I get a lot of crap for having done nude scenes and sex scenes. That, in itself, is antifeminist. The woman who hates on other women is the problem. Thats upsetting, so its great to have a scene where I was like, There you go! ” Clarke also admits that the possibility of Game of Thrones ending next year is giving her serious anxiety. (Which, like, same.) “Oh God, I get sleepless nights over it,” she said. “Oh, youre gonna mess it up. Its the last season, and its going to go wrong.” My mates are like, Its you—you [and Daenerys] are one and the same now. You need to trust your instincts! And Im like, No, I need to do more research! The more everyone tells me I cant do something, the more Im like, Oh yeah? Just watch me. ” Clarke also shut down those ongoing rumors that shes dating Kit Harington—who may or may not be engaged to his fellow Game of Thrones co-star. The actress Rose Leslie simply clarified that its “completely untrue.” In fact, Clarke has vowed to stop actors from dating altogether. “Im kind of like, Im not going to date anyone for the rest of the year. And then I dont know what to do with myself,” she said. “Im like, Oh yeah, Im single. I feel like Ive got to meet a guy, with all due respect, who has been living in Baghdad for five years who has no idea who I am.” Read the full interview with Clarke on ELLE.com.
